What is life? What’s this confusion? How did this long dream begin?
We are made and unmade like a child plays shaping mud with his hands.
We are born to die, and we die to be born.
We last as long as a drop of dew on the back of a leaf.
I can see people suffering, but I can’t see people delving into the reasons for pain.
Is there a greater illusion than looking for joy and certainty in the ephemeral?
The potter’s wheel seems still when it is in fact moving at great speed; the same happens with things and beings in this world that change and fade at a rhythm that is steady, subtle, relentless, vivacious…
Incense particles fall on the wood.
There’s no smoke or bragging in the scent they give away.
Similarly, the fire of knowledge burns ignorance and turns it all into one in the shape of ashes. There are no longer two, or three, nor a hundred…
I beg you to instruct and guide me so that my effort can free me for ever of anguish, fear and pain.
Whoever you are, and wherever you are, I beg you to give me back the light that shines brighter than the sun, the fire and all of the stars, and that is, at the same time, free from all of them.
Do not let go of me, do not let go; since there is no greater blessing than your eternal company and I have not been able to live without you in and out of my heart for a long while now.
